About us

South Africa has a bad reputation when it comes to drinking and driving. 40% of all trauma cases in South Africa last year had a blood alcohol level over the legal limit (0.05g/100ml). Almost half a nation’s accidents caused by drunk driving – a horrific statistic! The Government has realized that this is a huge problem and has started to implement very stringent and aggressive strategies to counteract it. A points system will go into effect early next year, and there will be increased roadblocks throughout the ‘silly’ season and even in winter.

Large corporations, even some in the liquor industry, have been actively campaigning against drinking and driving and it is now increasingly recognised as socially unacceptable.

Most of the options available to South Africans when faced with driving home are limited and expensive. Taxi’s over-charge and do not solve the problem of getting your car home, there is no viable public transport at night, and other chauffeur services tend to be aimed at corporate and ‘top end’ clientele.

Scoota Express has been created to service the large student and young professional market, offering a service to the people who need it most.
